About Screentour

Your film is done. You took risks, had sleepless nights for months and your bank account is negative. Now you want it to be seen.

You open a submission platform. You scroll through hundreds of festivals and don't know any of them. No information about the people behind is shown. But submitting is easy, so you pay and click. Again and again, spread and pray.

Weeks go by without any answer. You still have hope, scrolling on Reddit for any signs. After months, the important festivals rejected you. Is that it? Then it screened at a festival – a fake one. The international premiere, wasted. And then it's shown nowhere.

Making films is hard enough.

Submission platforms list every festival and tell you little about them. Screentour shows you who's behind each one — who curates, what they've selected, whether your film fits — so you can decide where your film actually belongs.

Screentour is built with people who love film.
Free for indie filmmakers – for now and ever.

Give it a try. I'd love to hear what you think about it.

Built with the help of great advisors

Festival strategy needs more than one lens: academic research, a newcomer's reality, and a practitioner's ear. Every recommendation traces back to evidence and real careers, not hype.

HFBK Hamburg

HFBK Hamburg

Hochschule für bildende Künste, Film department

Since 1965, HFBK Hamburg has trained auteurs through the films of Helke Sander, Wim Wenders, Angela Schanelec and others. Every cohort steps into the festival circuit for the first time on their watch. They bring Screentour the newcomer's reality: what filmmakers actually need before that first submission.

Skadi Loist

Prof. Dr. Skadi Loist

Associate Professor in Film Studies, NTNU

Skadi co-founded the Film Festival Research Network and led the Film Circulation project, which tracked around 2,500 films through the international circuit. They bring Screentour the empirical foundation: how films actually travel, which festivals connect to which, and what circulation patterns the data reveal.

Yugen Yah

Yugen Yah

Filmmaker & host of Indiefilmtalk

Yugen is a filmmaker and has hosted Indiefilmtalk since 2017, with more than 200 conversations with programmers, sales agents, producers and directors. He brings Screentour the practitioner's ear: which festivals genuinely move films and careers forward, and where filmmakers build real connections and visibility.

Common questions

How is this different from FilmFreeway?
FilmFreeway and similar platforms list festivals that use their submission system. Screentour shows you who's behind a festival, who curates, and what they've selected, so you can decide where your film actually belongs.
Which festivals are covered?
We focus on festivals with serious curation, not every fee-collecting one. The list grows as we research more.
When can I start using it?
Screentour is currently in the making. Enter your email on this page and we'll reach out the day it launches.
Is Screentour really free?
Free for one filmmaker and one film, always. No credit card, no trial. Teams and studios can choose the paid plans shown above. These prices are indicative and will be confirmed before launch.
Who is paying for Screentour?
Screentour is funded by its founder, with academic support from HFBK Hamburg and Prof. Dr. Skadi Loist (NTNU). The trademark registration was co-funded by the European Union via the EUIPO SME Fund. Paid plans for studios and producers will keep the indie tier free.
What if I want to leave?
Cancel anytime, one click. No retention calls, no questions asked, no forms. Your data is yours and will always be exportable (Coming soon). We'd love to hear why you left, but that's optional, never required.
